THE Bank Holiday is a great time to visit some of the beautiful local gardens open through the RHS National Garden Scheme.
This weekend Shuttifield Garden at Birchwood, Storridge, will be open. The three acre plantsman’s garden includes herbaceous borders, unusual trees, shrubs and perennials and also has a 20 acre woodland with ponds and a natural wildlife area, a deer park and vegetable garden.
Shuttifield is open on Saturday, April 30, from 1.30pm until 5 pm and admission is £3.50.
Other local gardens opem this bank holiday weekend include: 1 Church Cottage in Defford, WR8 9BJ, a one third of an acre country garden with a Japanese feature, vegetable garden, aviary and cider making, which is open Saturday and Sunday April 30 and May 1 from 11am to 5pm, admission £2.50; Whitlenge Gardens in Whitlenge Lane, Hartlebury, a three acre show garden with more than 800 varieties of trees and shrubs, open Sunday and Monday May 1 ans 3 from 9am until 5pm.
