THERE will be plenty of ways to celebrate today's (Friday, April 29) wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, even for those of us who have not received invitations to the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
From village halls to town streets, there will be parties of all sorts to mark the event.
A typical party is in Welland, where the road outside the village hall is being closed down for a traditional street party from 2pm to 4pm, with food, music, games for the children and competitions, as well as a big screen showing scenes from the big event.
Bromyard is the venue for a major street celebration, with afternoon teas in the Public Hall from 3pm to 5pm, picnics on the green and plenty of fun and entertainments including an Easter egg hunt in the churchyard.
In Malvern, street parties are being held at Cedar Avenue and Gilbert Road, and in Ledbury at Abercrombie Road.
And looking further afield, the Swan at Hanley Swan, Upton Rugby Club, Bosbury Parish Hall and Callow End Village Hall will all be hosting festivities to mark the royal marriage.
Later on in the day, the Farmer’s Arms in Wellington Heath will be hosting a pig roast from 5pm into the evening.
And among those who no doubt will be thirsting for refreshment are the bell-ringers of Powick Church, who intend to ring a full peal of 5,040 changes which will take three hours of continuous ringing between 10am and 1pm.
Schools and playgroups were determined not to be left out, with Royal Wedding-inspired parties and events being held yesterday at Upton Primary, Bromsberrow St Mary's Primary, Malvern Wells Primary and the Playstation nursery in Ledbury, among others.
