THE decision to reduce the stone wall fronting Malvern Community Hospital by about a foot is being reviewed by Worcestershire County Council.
Earlier this month we reported that the council planned to shorten the 5ft high wall because it interferes with the visibility of people using the pedestrian crossing across the hospital entrance.
It was understood that the wall would have to be reduced to about half a metre in height and then built back up, and local councillors slammed the idea as “bizarre” and a waste of money.
Coun Clive Smith, who called for the review, said he hoped the outcome would be double yellow lines at the entrance being extended instead of the wall being altered.
WCC spokesman Roz Golds confirmed a review is taking place, and that a safety audit took place on Tuesday (April 12) along with a West Mercia Police representative.
“The council is currently awaiting the findings before a decision can be made.”
