TEN runners from the Malvern Joggers are running marathons in aid of charity this spring.

Seven charities will be supported on Sunday, April 17, at the London Marathon while others are also represented at the Paris, Boston and Forces March marathons. If all goes according to plan, £13,000 will be raised for charity from these marathons.

Jogger Sarah Grout, also a fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support, is running her second London Marathon for the charity and wants to raise £2,500.

She said: “We shouldn’t underestimate the size of the challenge that the fundraising presents to some runners – it can be as big as the challenge as the training for the event. But many of us take up running or run because of a personal or family connection we have to a charity and that can be hugely motivational when it comes to dedicating time to training.

"Last year the Malvern Joggers Club raised over £30,000 for 23 charities from its fundraising activities and we are proud to carry on the challenge to raise yet more funds."

Also in Sunday's London Marathon are Tony Knight (RNLI), Jo Haynes (Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund), Mark Cooke (Mental Health Foundation), Simeon Foreman (Age UK), Catriona Robinson (The Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children), and Stuart Brown (Anthony Nolan Trust).
