THE Big C Big Sale event at Hanley Swan Village Hall on Saturday (April 9) was a big success, raising more than £1,100 for cancer charities in just two-and-a-half hours.
The sale was held in memory of Robyn Stenburg, who died of cancer earlier this year. She was affectionately known as the Australian jam lady’ because she had made and sold jams and preserves in fairs and markets in and around Malvern for many years.
The sale included some of her preserving equipment as well as materials and silks she used as an experienced seamstress and embroiderer.
The remainder of those goods will be on sale at the next Hanley Swan Cafe and Local Market, taking place in the village hall at 10am on Saturday, April 30. This event will also feature a display by the Hanleys Village History Society.
