FUNDING has been awarded to two Malvern-based projects inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Inspired small grants scheme is offering funding of up to £500 for schemes that aim to increase sport or physical activity, and help to create an Olympic legacy in the local community.
More than £9,000 has been awarded across Worcestershire to date, and there is still money available to bid for.
In Malvern, Dyson Perrins CE Sports College has been awarded a grant to help create the ‘Dyson Perrins Decathlon’.
This will be a multi-skills sports activities day with a choice of 10 activities. Students will then be encouraged to take up whatever activity they sample, and the school is aiming for 100 per cent participation.
The Barnardo’s Sunshine Children’s Centre has also been awarded funds, for a ‘Football Fledglings Olympic Challenge’.
This will look to deliver a weekly session for children aged 18 months to five years to develop their skills with qualified football coaches.
