A MUM and and daughter from Malvern will be walking more than 26 miles in London next month to raise money for the fight against breast cancer.

Shirley Lowe, aged 56, of Orford Way, will be doing the Moonwalk on the night of May 14 and 15, organised by Breast cancer charity Walk The Walk, to mark the tenth anniversary of her battle with the disease.

Mrs Lowe and Sharon Reeves, aged 31, will be joining up to 15,000 woman in the event, which last year raised over £5.5 million. The women walk the course in decorated bras, starting from Hyde Park.

The two have been busy training for several months to get in shape for the event, which involves power-walking.

Mrs Lowe said: "When I started, doing a three-mile walk was enough for me, but last weekend we did 18 miles, and next weekend we'll do 22 miles at Gosport, where my daughter lives.

"I've done fundraising events before, but nothing as big as this. It looks like it's going to be great fun, with bands playing along the route and people coming out of nightclubs to wish you well.

"Were hoping to finish it in seven or eight hours, but I'm determined to finish it, even if i have to crawl on my hands and knees."

The London Moonwalk is now in its 14th year, and there are also events in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Bristol and Southampton.
