A CANCER Research UK scientist has thanked local supporters for their efforts in raising half a million pounds for the charity.
Dr Sally Roberts, who is from Malvern and works at the Birmingham Institute for Cancer Studies, presented Tony Minchin, one of the founding members of the Malvern Cancer Research UK fundraising committee, with a certificate of appreciation.
The presentation was made at a fund-raising concert organised by the committee in St Edmunds Hall featuring Malvern Male Voice Choir and Chase Technology College Junior Choir.
Receiving the certificate, Mr Minchin thanked his wife and fellow committee members for their ongoing support, and praised the generous nature of Malvern people.
Cancer Research UK’s area volunteer manager Maria Parker said: “The charity has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so.
“However we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters, without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.”
