YOUNGSTERS from Malvern Parish Primary School were challenged to take part in two environmentally-friendly competitions ahead of their Eco-themed school fair, which takes place on Saturday (June 6).
The school’s Parent Teacher Association organised two half term competitions, challenging pupils to design a ‘junk sculpture’ or a poster encouraging people to be eco-aware.
PTA spokesman Ali Webb said the competitions had been well-supported, with children providing a great many high quality entries.
“The school is very keen to encourage environmental awareness and in fact have an Eco Bear which is given every week in Friday Celebration Assembly to the child or group of children who have done something to help the environment,” she said.
The Eco Poster competition was won by Thomas Pickering, from year two, while there were three winners of the Junk Sculpture competition, Johnny Chick from year one and reception pupils Rebecca Palmer and Matthew Spaul.
The school fair takes place from 4-6pm tomorrow and will feature a wide variety of stalls and activities all with an ‘Eco’ theme.
There will be local food and drink, music, and a tombola with eco-themed prizes.
