A YOUNG cancer survivor from Malvern is inviting local women to attend a Ladies’ Day with a difference at Worcester Racecourse on Sunday, June 14.
Kerrie Ford, aged 22, wore an unusual fashion combo of stunning red hat teamed with trainers to encourage local women to attend the social event of the summer - Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.
She was joined on the race track by Paula Young of Cancer Research UK.
Together, they are urging local women to walk, jog or run the 5k at Worcester Racecourse, part of the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event series, and fund vital research to help save lives.
Kerrie was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in January 2007 after discovering a lump on her neck. She successfully underwent a year of chemotherapy and despite losing her hair, returned to work as a fitness instructer nine months later.
She said: ““When the doctors told me they thought I had cancer I tried to stay positive “I didn’t tell anyone because I didn’t want to worry them.
“It’s thanks to research that I am here today. That’s why I want to invite women in Worcestershire to do something amazing by entering Race for Life and asking their sisters, mothers, daughters, friends and colleagues to take part as well.”
