IAN Hopwood is standing as the Conservative Party candidate in the Worcestershire County Council elections for Malvern Langland.

He said: “My work at Amey Business Services covers a wide range of duties, including health and safety. This gives me a strong focus on health and safety issues within the division.

“There are, however, problems to be dealt with. We need to improve uneven footpaths to avoid injuries to pedestrians. We need to support our local schools and encourage 20mph schemes. We need to ensure the elderly can live safely and independently in their own homes and the new hospital provides the correct services.

“The Conservatives made Worcestershire a 4-Star county. I want the residents of Pickersleigh and Priory to feel the benefits. Having served on the town council, I have the knowledge and experience to maintain this high standard.”

PENELOPE Morgan is standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate in the Worcestershire County Council elections for Malvern Langland.

She said: “I have represented Malvern Langland for four years, taking a keen interest in children’s services including schools, youth and pre-school services. Social Services and housing have also required my attention to ensure that the county council supports residents appropriately. Highways and traffic are an on-going problem and I continue to fight for the best possible results.

“If re-elected I will continue to support local charities and the most needy in the community. I will press for a complete rethink on traffic flow in and around Malvern and the provision of the most appropriate infrastructure for any new housing.”

RICHARD Spencer is standing as the UK Independence Party candidate in the Worcestershire County Council elections for Malvern Langland.

He said: “I have lived in Malvern all my life, and worked for ST Water for 27 years. I became increasingly disenchanted with creeping bureaucracy and centralisation, so I left the company to become self-employed.

“Local councils have many of the same problems, being subject to a large degree of governmental interference; patronising over-regulation; pointless bureaucracy; social-engineering and political correctness, which seems designed to conceal basic facts from us. All of this intrusive nannying costs us money.

“UKIP stands for Independence, not just from the EU, although many of our problems come from there, but also freedom from ‘big government’ in general.”

Robert Dowler is standing as the Green candidate in the Worcestershire County Council elections for Malvern Langland.

He said: “I have lived in Malvern for 20 years and love it.

“Having been a town councillor for three years previously, I know how hard it is to bring ‘Green’ ideas to the table.

“However it becomes ore obvious to people, year on year, that sustainable ways of going aboiut our affairs makes the best sense.

“I have retired now and feel I can put more effort into helping make necessary changes.”
