DEREK Baddeley is standing as the UK Independence Party candidate in the Worcestershire County Council elections for Malvern Link.
He said: “I am standing for election because I want to pursue the concerns felt by many residents, including myself, over the big changes and developments which face us in this area more than any other in Malvern.
“These are; the North Site development, with issues of roads, traffic, drainage, etc; new Malvern hospital, services offered and traffic disruption in Worcester Road; and Lower Howsell Road’s massive housing proposal. This plan, containing 1100 houses, would completely change the character and dynamics of the area, with probable horrendous traffic congestion at several junctions with the Worcester Road and at Leigh Sinton.”
NANCY Doyle is standing as the Conservative Party candidate in the Worcestershire County Council elections for Malvern Link.
She said: “My background is in health, having worked in the NHS for many years, and working as a district councillor for Hallow for eight years has given me experience for service at county level.
I will serve Malvern Link working with my constituents, putting forward their views and reporting back. Parish councils are the hub of the division and it is imperative I attend meetings and we work as a team.”
She believes that all age groups should get equality in health and dental care, footpaths and roads should be maintained, visible policing is the key to community safety, and affordable housing must be a priority for local people.
JANET Dyer is the Green Party candidate in the Worcestershire County Council elections for Malvern Link.
She said: “As an early member of the Green Party, I have long identified with its values, particularly those that call for devolution of authority from national to local government. The maxim ‘Think Globally, Act Locally’ has never been more valid than it is today. Therefore, as a county councillor I would work with others locally to bring about a thriving local economy that will create more jobs locally, more affordable and sustainable housing for local people, better and more efficient local public transport systems and the greater availability of cleaner energy locally while encouraging greater transparency and accountability from your local authority.”
Janet works as an environmental co-ordinator.
CLIVE Smith is standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate in the Worcestershire County Council elections for Malvern Link.
He said: "It has been my privilege to represent Malvern Link at every level of local government for over 30 years, the last four years as your County Councillor. During that long time Link residents know full well that I have fought their battles and represented their interests week in week out and year in year out keeping them informed all year round and not just at election times.
“There are many challenges facing us not least the threat of the regional spatial strategy and the damage that all these thousands of new houses will pose to the beautiful area that we live in. I can assure you all that I will do my utmost to defeat these half-baked dangerous proposals.”
