THE owners of Hanley Swan Post Office met shadow home secretary Chris Grayling as part of their continued fight for more justice for victims of crime.
Postmaster Alan Davies was seriously injured when he was struck over the head by robbers in August 2005.
Although the offenders were caught and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, their sentence was later cut on appeal.
Mr Davies and his wife Rosalind were not told about the appeal hearing, and launched a petition calling for more rights for crime victims.
Mrs Davies said: "We got 4,683 names on the petition, which was really good. What we want is for crime victims to have a place in appeals like this. There should be someone to speak up for them."
After meeting Mr and Mrs Davies, Mr Grayling said that a Conservative government would bring back honesty in sentencing and an end to the governments early release scheme.
