A NOVEL fund-raising approach was greeted enthusiastically by pupils of Somers Park Primary School in Malvern.
They drew a giant Acorns Children’s Hospice logo on paper and then attempted to fill in the shapes with hundreds of small-denomination coins brought in from home.
Pupil Grace Croad, aged 11, came up with the idea to raise valuable funds for the Worcester-based hospice.
She said: “I was telling the other pupils how it helps children who are terminally ill.”
She described the response from her peers as “fabulous”.
Teacher Hayley Thomas said: “We asked everyone at the school to bring in as many coins form home as they could.
“The classes came into the hall and filled up the picture again and again with coins.”
When the money was added the school had raised £305.69 for the charity.
