A FEMALE driver who was involved in a series of collisions in the centre of Malvern last week could face prosecution for her actions despite being released.
Police detained a woman last Tuesday (May 12) after she drove her Land Rover Freelander erratically through the town centre, breaking through the locked gates of Malvern Priory and colliding with a car on Graham Road.
A mother and child walking near to the Priory were just inches away from being struck by the vehicle.
Last week police detained the driver under section 136 of the Mental Health Act, although she was later released without charge.
However this week they confirmed that the driver has been reported for consideration of prosecution.
Spokesman Richard Bull said: “After being deemed fit for release, the woman - who was not arrested for criminal or motoring offences - left Worcester Police Station and was interviewed the following day as part of an on-going investigation.”
He added that all known witnesses, and any others who may come forward as a result of the incident being publicised, would be interviewed.
