EASTNOR Castle will be bringing history to life with a medieval re-enactment event entitled “Armouritis” this bank Holiday weekend.
The castle boasts the second-largest privately-owned collection of armour in Britain, with more than 50 suits. The term Armouritis was coined by Charles, 3rd Earl Somers of eastnor, who collected the armour in the mid-19th century.
On Sunday (May 24) and Monday there will be an arms and armour display by The Armoury, along with armour-making demonstrations and the chance for people to try it on.
The castle grounds will come alive with a living history camp showing how life used to be in medieval times, and top military re-enactment groups Kynges Ordynaunce and The Hartley Household will be putting on displays.
There will be medieval music from The Bubonic Wind Band and plenty of opportunity for visitors to join in with cookery, dancing, pewter casting, light-hearted talks.
Eastnor’s usual attractions, including the Knight’s Maze, assault course, nature trails and walks will also be available.
The castle is open from 11am-4.30pm on both days and admission costs £8.50 for adults, £7.50 for seniors, £5.50 for children (5-15 years) and £22.50 for families (two adults and three children).
