TWO friends from Malvern have raised more than £1,200 for breast cancer research by completing a gruelling night-time marathon walk through London.
Rosemary Baugh and Mike Speed joined thousands of participants tackling the 26-mile Moonwalk Marathon on Saturday night (May 16).
Mrs Baugh, who is 69, was taking part in her third Moonwalk Marathon while it was a new experience for Mr Speed.
The pair completed the gruelling trek in about nine hours.
Mrs Baugh said: “The weather was fantastic, it stayed dry and I think we were pretty lucky because I gather it was raining just about everywhere else.
“I was shattered by half-way, perhaps because i have not been able to do so much training this time around, but we kept going and I think we were both spurring each other on at various points.
“I am glad that I managed to finish again and obviously my friends and family are very proud of me. The atmosphere was as good as ever, it’s always a fantastic event.”
