UPTON’S popular amateur theatre troupe the Pepperpot Players are returning to the stage later this month with a hilarious production of Darling Mr London.
The comedy is written by Anthony Marriot and Bob Grant and is set at the home of mild-mannered Edward, who works at the continental telephone exchange and, unbeknown to his wife, spends his spare time chatting up the foreign lady operators.
When a “Miss Europhone” contest brings those very girls to London, Edward’s life starts to get exceedingly complicated, and much mayhem and hilarity ensues.
Director Penny Sant said rehearsals have been going well and the show is coming together nicely.
“The cast have been having a great time getting to grips with this production and our backstage team have come up trumps as usual with a fabulous set,” she said. “This is my first time directing and it's been quite an experience.
“I really didn't appreciate how much hard work there is involved with actually bringing a production to life but I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of it.
“We can promise the audience a great evening packed with fun and laughter.”
Darling Mr London will be performed in Upton’s Memorial Hall on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 28-30, at 7.30pm and tickets cost £8.50 including a cheese and pate ploughmans supper. Guests should bring their own glasses and refreshments.
Tickets are on sale now from PS Presents, in Old Street, or by calling 01684 594317.
