MUSICAL youngsters from The Downs Malvern College Prep School are celebrating after singing their way to success at a prestigious performing arts competition.
The school emerged victorious at the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts Under-13 Mixed Choirs Competition.
The choir was awarded the Clarke Challenge Cup with honours, after being commended by the adjudicator for its balanced harmonies, musicality and choral discipline.
For the first time at the festival the school also entered the Rotary Challenge Cup, for children aged seven and under.
The youngsters performed “Kicking up Shells” and “Teddy Bear Rock and Roll”, gaining 83 marks and a distinction, only missing out on the top mark by three points.
School spokesman Karen Ramsay said: “The school can be reassured that the high musical standard they have come to expect is going to continue into the future with those talented and enthusiastic pupils moving through the school.”
