A SIX-year-old pupil from Leigh and Bransford Primary School has triumphed in a national competition to promote recycling.
Environmental charity ENCAMS, which runs the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, challenged children to design a poster on the theme of “Recycling: Why Bother?”.
Edward Shackles’ poster, with the slogan “Don’t Close The World Down”, was selected from more than 190 entries to take the Best Infant Poster award.
As part of Edward’s prize the school has been presented with a set of recycling bins decorated with his winning poster.
Andy Searle, the school’s eco co-ordinator, said: “We are all very proud of Edward’s success. He has designed a stunning poster and the new bins will be a great addition to the school’s efforts to recycle waste”.
Edward’s success follows the school being awarded Eco Green Flag status in July 2008 in recognition of its efforts to create a sustainable community.
