MALVERN Rotary Club’s annual Golf Day at the Worcestershire Golf Club, in Malvern Wells, was a huge success, raising more than £3,000.
112 golfers took part in the team event, raising a grand total of £3,368. A total of 90 per cent of this money will be donated to the Acorns Children’s Hospice, with the remaining 10 per cent being retained for other Rotary charity work.
The highest-scoring team on the day was The Defenders, comprising Harry Tanner, his two sons Martin and Nigel and Brian Longley, who returned a score of 89 points.
The best mixed team was The Hot Shots, made up of Robin and Pat Darch and John and Deb Langham, who scored 86 points.
The top scoring Rotary team, with 87 points, was The Canmakers, who were led by Rotary president Brian Curtis.
The ladies’ prize was won by Liz Pool, Jane Tromans, Evelyn Hill and Mary Horrobin, who scored an impressive 88 points.
Rotary spokesman Sandy Gibson said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, the local businesses that supported the event by sponsoring different holes, and to the Worcestershire Golf Club.”
