THE design for a sculpture that will be carved into a storm-damaged tree in Priory Park for a community project has now been finalised.
Malvern Hills District Council has teamed up with the Worcestershire Association of Teachers of Art and Design (WATAD) for the 2009 “One Big Project”.
Local young people have been working with artist Tom Harvey, who has now finished pooling the youngsters’ ideas into a final design for the tree sculpture.
The next stage of the project, likely to begin towards the end of May, will see Mr Harvey set up camp in Priory Park and begin carving the design into the tree.
The theme for this year’s project is “Water Sustains Life” and the youngsters involved with the project were invited to come up with design ideas reflecting that theme.
The inaugural One Big Project in 2006 saw a book character mural created at Malvern Library.
