A FORMER art teacher from Worcestershire will be helping to entertain millions of film lovers this year after winning a competition to star in a movie trailer.

Merlith Morrison-Hutton of Blackmore Park, Hanley Swan, near Malvern, features in a special film compilation showing clips from 33 forthcoming summer movies.

She was one of four lucky winners who got the chance to voiceover the trailer which hit UK cinemas last month.

The winners were chosen by film industry judges from hundreds of hopefuls who entered through their local Newsquest newspapers’ websites including those of the Malvern Gazette.

All of the winners attended a special recording session in Soho, London, and were treated to an expensive lunch.

Mrs Morrison-Hutton thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. She said: “I just entered for a bit of fun and couldn’t believe it when I was one of the winners. It appealed to me because I am very interested in the spoken word and I am very fond of poetry.

“I think the finished trailer is excellent and very exciting. The way they have cut in all of the voices is fantastic. They gave me a copy of it on DVD so I can watch it whenever I like.”

Mrs Morrison, who was an art teacher at a Gloucestershire school, is also a professional artist and lives with her husband Robert.

Newsquest’s digital services co-ordinator, Sophie Holmes, said: “The standard of entries was really high with readers from all Newsquest centres having a go.”

The other winners included a pensioner from Buckinghamshire, a mum-of-three from Swindon, Wiltshire, and a budding actor from Bolton, Lancashire, who was named as the overall winner.
