SPONSORSHIP money collected after this year’s Malvern Rotary Club pancake race in Priory Park was almost £2,000.
The lion’s share of the money (90 per cent) will go to St Richard’s Hospice, while the remaining 10 per cent will be used for other charitable requests from the club.
Team Canmakers, retired executives of Crown Packaging, raised the most sponsorship money while the race itself was sponsored by Waitrose and won by their ladies’ team.
Rotary president Brian Curtis said: "The Pancake Race was conceived as a fun event, which it is.
“However it is good to realise the good the sponsorship aspect will achieve."
The club is now organising a free-to-enter sponsored walk on the Malvern Hills on Saturday, June 20 to raise funds for the new Malvern Hospital.
Rotary member Sandy Gibson said: “Extra funds provided by the League of Friends of the Malvern Hospital and the Rotary Club will provide additional equipment and amenities to make it a hospital of which we can be proud.”
Walkers will be able select a walk of four, eight or twelve miles.
