COLLEAGUES have paid tribute to Worcestershire County councillor and Malvern Hills Conservator Jeremy Webb after his passing on Wednesday (May 6) following a battle with illness.
Coun Webb, a Liberal Democrat, represented the Malvern Trinity ward since 1997 and served on various committees. He was elected chairman of the audit and governance committee in 2005 and was also a member of the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority and the Malvern Hills Highways Partnership.
WCC leader George Lord said he was considered a gentleman by all who knew him.
“Jeremy was a much-respected figure and he will be remembered for his valued work within his division and other areas,” he said.
Lib Dem group leader Tom Wells said his calm and considered approach to decision making would be missed.
“He was a first-rate councillor and commanded respect across the political divide,” he said.
Labour group leader Peter Pinfield said: “His kind, considered attitude and sense of fair play will be missed and I send my deep condolences to his family”.
Fran Oborski, leader of the Liberal Group, said: “Jeremy was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed by members of all parties.”
Conservators director Ian Rowat said: “Jeremy will be very sadly missed and our condolences go out to his family.”
