A GROUP of workers from the Probation Service have been helping with an ongoing refurbishment project at Suckley Village Hall.
Eight workers and two supervisors have spent two weekends re-painting the toilets and entrance hall at the community facility as part of the Community Payback scheme.
Tom Talbot, the chairman of the Village Hall Committee, said everyone had been most impressed with their efforts.
“We were very pleased with the job they did and I think that more people might make use of this service if they knew just how good it was,” he said. “We were impressed with their enthusiasm and the quality of the work that they did.”
Mr Talbot has written to the Probation Service thanking the team for their efforts, and he hopes to invite them back to carry out more work at a later point.
There is an ongoing refurbishment project in place at the village hall, which celebrated its centenary last November.
Thanks to a Lottery Awards for All grant of £5,000, and the same amount of investment from the village hall committee, significant improvements to the building’s lighting and electrics have been made and a completely new kitchen installed.
Damp proofing has been introduced where required and significant improvements have been made to the hall’s toilet facilities.
