VALUABLE funds are up for grabs in the latest round of grant give-aways from Malvern Hills Lions Club.
The club distributes money to worthy groups twice a year and in the past has benefited organisations as diverse as Malvern Squadron Air Training Corps and Welland Pre-School.
Mary Allmark, community services chairman for the group, said: “We have over £1000 to spend this time, for groups or specific projects which are non-commercial.”
One of the charities to benefit over with the Lions’ Christmas grants scheme was Elizabeth Fitzroy Support which provides practical support for adults with learning difficulties.
The charity, which looks after 13 adults in Howsell Road, Malvern Link, received £200 to pay for decorations and presents for a Christmas party they held for residents.
Fundraising team manager Jan Taylor said: “It made a real difference. We had a real get-together at Christmas with the families of the residents.
“We used the funds for bits that we would never have been able to buy. That’s what we go to the Lions for.”
Requests for funds must include the applicant’s full name and contact telephone number, what the money would be used for and how much is needed.
They can be sent to: Lions Grants, Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter, Hylton Road, Worcester, WR2 5JX.
Applications will be assessed by the Lions Club’s community Services committee before being approved by the full committee and the results will be published in the Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter in June.
The deadline for entries will be Friday, May 29.
