MALVERN Concert Club’s final concert of the season on Thursday, May 7, will feature one of Britain’s leading baritone, Roderick Williams.
A favourite on the concert and operatic stages world-wide the renowned baritone will be appearing alongside his regular pianist Susie Allan. The recital will feature a varied set of masterpieces from the German repertoire with works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms and Wolf.
The concert will take place in the Forum at Malvern Theatres starting at 7.30pm and tickets cost £15, concessions £14 and students £5.
Roderick Williams has made a big mark on the operatic stage and the concert hall and has close associations with the English National and Scottish Opera and with Opera North in leading roles . His recent performances as Papageno in The Magic Flute for ENO was described by critic Andrew Porter in Opera magazine as being “Britain’s best baritone”. He has an enviable reputation as a leading exponent of English song and has made many successful recordings in this field.
He has given many recitals with the well-known song accompanist Susie Allan. She has played at many festivals for leading singers such as William Dazeley, Tom Randle and Susan Gritton.
Following a successful 2008-09 season the Malvern Concert Club has now published a programme of concerts for 2009-10. Annual membership, which gives regular concert goers a saving compared with the individual ticket prices, is available. Phone 01684 567993 for details.
