BUDDING entrepreneurs from Malvern St James school have been enjoying considerable success in the Young Enterprise scheme.
Young Enterprise offers students the chance to gain real life business experience by setting up and running their own companies.
Four companies from Malvern St James, CreSign, London Link, U Choose and I Candy all reached the Young Enterprise competition final for the South Worcestershire area.
U Choose, which produces jewellery and the ‘book hut’ -a distinctive book shelf in the shape of a beach hut - won the QinetiQ cup for the most innovative product and has been selected to go through to the competition finals along with I Candy, which makes cushions and decorated canvas bags.
Another of the school’s companies, “Joker?”, won the Postcode Anywhere award for the best use of IT after producing an oriental cookbook both in hard copy and on CD.
Jenni Chuck, the Young Enterprise Link Teacher at Malvern St James, said: “The Young Enterprise Scheme is excellent because it gives the students the real life experience of running their own business.
“The girls have achieved excellence in many fields this year, notably in product design and information technology. We are extremely proud of their efforts and the commitment and enterprise that all the girls involved in the scheme have shown.”
