MALVERN town councillors are calling on the highway authority to consider putting traffic calming measures on a busy road near Barnards Green.
At a town council meeting on Tuesday, members voted to support a resolution by Pickersleigh ward member coun Will Atkinson calling for the safety work to be carried out on Pound Bank Road.
Coun Atkinson said there was a kindergarten on the road, and children also crossed over it on the way to playing fields at Dukes Meadow. His motion was seconded by town mayor coun Caroline Bovey.
Also supporting him was fellow Pickersleigh member coun Pat Mewton, who said: "There's going to be traffic lights very shortly at the top of Barnards Green, which will make the rat run down Pound Bank Road even worse.
"Drivers don't want to go down Pickersleigh Road because of all the traffic lights and traffic calming.
"It's going to be an absolute nightmare.”
The council will now write to Worcestershire County Council, asking them to consider the proposal.
