MORE than 370 cubs, scouts and explorers paraded through the streets of Ledbury on Sunday to mark St George’s Day.
They were made up of scout groups from across the Malvern district including Colwall, Leigh Sinton, Upton-upon-Severn, Malvern Link, and Malvern Wells, as well as Ledbury itself.
St George, as well as being the patron saint of England, is the patron saint of the scouting movement and a parade is arranged each year to mark the day.
Organiser and leader of 1st Colwall Scouts Ken Lloyd said: “It was a great success. The Ledbury people were very pleased at the participation of the scouts in their activities and we were very pleased with the welcome we had from Ledbury.”
The parade started at St Katherine’s car park and made its way through town and up Church Street to St Michael and All Angels Church.
Organisation of the parade passes form group to group each year and will be arranged by Ledbury in 2010.
