ST Joseph's RC Primary School, at Link Top, is to receive a Leading Aspect Award.
The nationally-recognised award is given to schools that can show they practise teaching methods that significantly improve pupils' learning.
For St Joseph's, the award is entitled: “Enabling children to become independent learners for life by increasing their learning power”.
The school has been rigorously assessed, which included submitting detailed evidence and a full-day visit by an assessor.
And later this term, staff will be presented with the award at a national conference in Birmingham.
Head teacher Ann Marie Wallbank said: "The award recognises the extensive work that our school has undertaken over the last two or three years helping children to develop skills that will help them in any learning situation and will also help them adapt to the ever-changing world in which they are growing up.”
