A CHARITY is on the lookout for local people to use pedal power to raise money for vital research into a cure for type one diabetes.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is organising the Great Malvern Cycle Challenge next month and wants as many people as possible to take part and make the event a huge success.
The Cycle Challenge starts and finishes at Malvern St James school and offers participants a choice of an adventurous 65-mile route or a more gentle, family-friendly 20-mile course.
It is taking place on Sunday, May 17 and registration costs £25 for solo riders or £75 for a family group of two adults and two children.
Participants are asked to raise sponsorship money for the JDRF.
The latest figures show more than 2,300 children in the West Midlands suffer from type one diabetes, and the JDRF is constantly working to find a cure for the chronic, often life-threatening condition.
JDRF regional development manager Joe Nunn said: “The Great Malvern Cycle Challenge is a fantastic way to raise money for research to find the cure for type one diabetes.
“Not only will the money raised help the thousands in the UK that have the condition, it’s also a great opportunity to get active and enjoy a fun day out in the beautiful countryside.”
