MEMBERS of Malvern Hills District Council this week lined up in unanimous opposition to a local health trust's plan to hold its meetings behind closed doors.
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is bidding to become a foundation trust on October 1, and has decided that board meetings should be held behind closed doors from then on.
The trust runs Worcestershire Royal Hospital, as well as hospitals at Redditch and Kidderminster.
Now coun Ralph Madden, MHDC's new leader, and his predecessor coun Serena Croad, will write to the trust expressing the council's concern and saying the council will withdraw support for the trust's bid until the matter is resolved satisfactorily.
