MALVERN RUGBY CLUB are looking to raise £50,000 to help finance their new 'Go Green' initiative.
The initiative aims to invest in projects that will secure both the future of the environment, and the clubs' financial future.
The projects include the installation of solar panels to harness clean energy, storage for batteries to maximise efficiency, and air source heat pumps for greener heating solutions.
The club also plan to upgrade the floodlights to energy-saving LEDs, as well as replacing other inefficient appliances such as ovens and stoves in order to cut down on energy consumption.
The plan comes after the decision by Malvern Hills District Council to extend the lease on the Spring Lane Ground by 35 years.
In their application for the extended the lease, the club's vision for improvement was laid out in a 10-year rugby and community development plan.
In the clubs' statement, they have said: "These improvements will not only lower the operating costs, allowing reinvestment in the club and its community, but also contribute to a healthier environment for future generations.
"The Club is looking to raise £50,000 and has launched a Crowd funding page for people who wish to make a donation. Over the coming months the Club will be introducing a number of initiative including sponsorship packages aimed at raising the necessary funds."
