Malvern Town secured their second win in the space of four days with a 2-0 success against Shaftesbury Town at the HDANYWHERE Community Stadium.
The Town started off sloppily and were lucky not to find themselves behind in the opening stages of the game, a sloppy pass out from the back left Shaftesbury one on one but luckily their forward dragged his effort wide of goal.
The first to test the Shaftesbury goalkeeper for Malvern was Sam Clark, who saw his header saved after Charlie Johnson had retrieved a corner into the box and then sent in a wicked left footed delivery that Clark directed goalward.
Malvern managed to take the lead when Sam Clark was slipped in down the left hand-side and his square ball was mishandled by the Shaftesbury goalkeeper.
The ball eventually dropped to Alex Bell who swivelled and half volleyed the ball into the net to give Malvern the lead.
This got Malvern’s tails up and they were soon playing with supreme confidence.
Harry Clark combined nicely with Johnson down the left hand side with a lovely one-two, with the latter getting a left footed strike away on goal that was palmed away.
Rose then provided a tantalising cross towards the back post but it was knocked away just in time by the defender.
Into the second half and Malvern had to withstand some early pressure as Shaftesbury pushed for an equaliser but the back of Dion Molyneux, skipper Luke Payne and Charlie Johnson were more than up for the challenge, ensuring that Alex Kovacevic had very little to do.
Town took a 2-0 lead on the counter attack, breaking from a Shaftesbury corner. Sam Clark was slipped in behind and he played a perfect cross into the path of Bell. He chopped inside the defender before whipping a delicious finisher into the top right hand corner of the goal, giving the keeper no chance as he grabbed his 2nd of the game.
Rose came close to getting his first senior goal for Malvern but his effort from the edge of the area was well dealt with the Shaftesbury goalkeeper.
Malvern comfortably rode out the final few minutes of the game to secure the 2-0 win.
