Malvern Colts secured a hard-fought victory over Aston Old Edwardians, winning 59-24.

The match took place in Birmingham, with both teams predominantly consisting of 16-year-olds in their first year of Colts rugby.

Despite the hosts scoring early, Malvern quickly regrouped and equalised with a well-executed try.

The first half was competitive, with Aston showing strong resilience and defensive skills, turning the ball over from isolated Malvern players during attack moves.

At the break, there was only one score between the two sides.

However, after the half-time break, Malvern came out with renewed energy.

Playing with the slope, they quickly gained the upper hand.

Both forwards and backs were in top form, mixing up their play to cut through the opposition's defensive lines as the visitors strolled to a 59-24 victory.

The result was a convincing win, but it was more hard-fought than the score suggests.

This victory marks their third away win this season and moves Malvern to fourth place in the North Midlands league.

Looking ahead, coach Stu Holston said: "This Sunday, Malvern Colts face Veyesans, a tough Birmingham team who are second in the league.

"It's time for Malvern Colts to show how much they are progressing at Stadio Spring Lane."

The match against Veyesans is set to kick off at 2pm on Sunday (October 20).
