Malvern Town can be proud after drawing 2-2 with step three opponents Redditch United in their latest pre-season friendly.

Goals from the Hillsiders' Jack Watts and a trialist saw Town take the lead before being pegged back at HDANYWHERE Community Stadium.

The visitors took an early lead when Jordan Cranston put a stellar free-kick in the top corner.

However, Malvern levelled the score in the 19th minute when a well-executed move from Levi Francis and Sam Clark drew the defence and paved the way for Watts' cool finish.

Both of the shot stoppers were switched on for the clash, with Malvern's trialist and Adam Harrison keeping things level.

Clark came close as half-time approached, before Cranston nearly put one in his own net off a Joe Tumelty corner.

Malvern took the lead in stoppage time, thanks to Clark's header that was expertly driven home by trialist B.

The second half opened with more stellar goalkeeping from Malvern's trialist.

However, Redditch managed to level the match just before the hour mark, squeezing the ball in in at the near post.

More scoring opportunities for Malvern followed including a promising break from Joe Bullock and a powerful drive by Alex Bell, but none managed to find the back of the net.

Following the game, co-manager Stephen Cleal said: "It was another friendly full of positives.

"The newer members of the group continued to adapt to their new surroundings well and gave a good account of themselves.

"The most pleasing thing for Hoops (Lee Hooper) and I is that you can start to see little partnerships building, and being only five or six sessions in, that really bodes well for the future."
