A WILLOW arch, quiet seating area and colourful flower beds could be created on Elgar Avenue if ambitious plans for a community garden go ahead.
Residents have joined forces to put together plans, designs and ideas for the garden, which would transform a unused patch of ground into an attractive area that would ultimately benefit the community.
The patch currently belongs to Malvern Town Council, which had planned to sell it to Festival Housing, for development, but residents are hoping to change the local authority's mind.
They will give a presentation on their ideas at a meeting of the council on Tuesday, June 5.
"If we manage to convince the town council, it will be really great," said resident Carrie Rice, who pioneered the idea with neighbour Louise Reeve.
"The land is doing nothing at the moment and people even dump their rubbish on it."
She added: "We've got lots of ideas and have been working with Madresfield Garden Design.
"This could be something really good for the whole community. When we'd put it all together, and seen what we'd done, we would be so proud."
Carrie and fellow residents have recently set up the Elgar Scotties youth football team, in memory of her son Scott, who died, aged 14, in 2005.
Jenny Lawrence, community safety co-ordinator, who has been working closely with the residents, said: "The Scotties team has been a great success, and has really spurred the residents on.
"The garden is a fantastic idea, and will greatly improve the quality of life for residents."
The council meeting takes place at 6pm on Tuesday, in the town council offices in Belle Vue Terrace.
