THE Wyche CE Primary School in Malvern has put in a planning application for an extension.
The building is a second-storey development over the school's existing reception classroom.
The scheme is funded by the government through the Devolved Capital Funding Allocation.
It will provide space for music teachers as well as room for groups of children withdrawn from classes to work with teaching assistants.
Head Geoff Robinson said: "The school's position, halfway up the Malvern Hills, affords us wonderful views but little scope to build outwards. This additional second-storey room will offer us much needed additional working space and will greatly benefit the children who use it."
