CHAMPAGNE glasses were raised as residents and staff celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Alexander Gardens sheltered housing complex in Malvern Link.
The party, on Wednesday, May 16, was particularly special for Glenys O'Ryan and Jan Harris, the longest serving resident and member of staff at 19 and 20 years respectively.
After a celebration lunch, the pair were given the honour of cutting an enormous birthday cake. "The place has changed a lot over the last 20 years, but I have always really enjoyed it here," said Mrs Harris. "It can be very demanding work but it is always good fun."
Alexander Gardens has around 50 residents housed in 39 flats and a handful of bungalows. They are given round-the-clock care by a team of five housing support officers.
