SALES of a commemorative rose have raised £850 for the local branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The association had a stand at the Malvern Spring Gardening Show at the weekend.
Customers were able to order specially grown Thumbs-Up roses, created by Norfolk-based Peter Beales Roses, which donated 10 per cent of takings to the charity.
The yellow and pink rose was created in memory of former president of the Royal National Rose Society, Colin Horner, who a victim of the disease.
"The stand at the show went down really well and we're delighted with the money raised," said MND Association spokesman Tim Stavert.
"I'd like to thank everyone who contributed and supported our stand."
The association will have a stand at the Race the Dragon Regatta at Worcester Racecourse on Sunday, June 17. Mr Stavert is looking for people to join a dragon boat team, which will race for the charity on the day.
"We've already got a few people, but could do with more," he said.
