WELLAND Primary School has maintained its healthy school status after introducing a range of new initiatives.
These include encouraging children to eat nuts or fruit at snack time and offering healthy cooked meals twice a week. There has also been an upsurge in lunchtime and sports activities.
Jean Luckham, healthy school co-ordinator for Welland Primary, said: "We were first given the status back in 2000 and were reassessed earlier this month.
"The people who give out the Government-run status were impressed with our dinners. We do baked potato one day and a roast, with a vegetarian option the next."
