TALKS have been held with Worcestershire County Coun-cil over possible improvements to Upton Bridge.
At the request of Upton in Bloom, town councillors Tim Perry and Fr Dominic Round met with senior engineer Richard Attwood to explore the possibility of resurfacing the pedestrian walkways, installing lamps with attachments for hanging baskets and repainting the bridge.
Other temporary measures discussed were hanging flower baskets over the water from handrails on either side of the bridge, and placing flower tubs at the end of the bridge's structural arches.
Fr Dominic said that while their suggestions were warmly received and considered quite feasible, the project was only in the discussion stage and finance had not been secured.
Should the work go ahead, the town council would like residents' input into what colour the bridge should be painted. Anybody with a suggestions should write to the town clerk at Memorial Hall, 8 Old Street, Upton-upon-Severn, WR8 0HA.
