REFERRING to your headline article in last week’s Malvern Gazette entitled ‘How We’ll Transform Your Town’.

Who do these developers think they are, wanting to come into our town and ‘transform’ it? It may have escaped their notice that we like our town the way it is, that’s why we live here.

We don’t want it ‘transformed’ by anybody, least of all by outsiders looking for a quick profit.

OK, there may be a few areas that need the odd tweak here and there but in general we like it like that, it’s what makes Malvern Malvern.

I, as I’m sure do many others in the town, object to all these proposed housing developments in and around Malvern.

From my standpoint there seems to be a complete disregard for the protection of the countryside, including green belt land, around the town, the only proviso being that if it’s going to benefit the council, let’s build on it; if a private individual made an application to do the same they’d get short shrift from the planning authorities, I’m sure.

The general consensus is that, no matter how much we object, our council seems to meekly roll over and give in, thinking, on the surface of it anyway, only of the extra revenue it will get in council tax.

Don’t the opinions of the residents of Malvern carry any weight at all?
