A PUBLIC meeting is being staged to oppose the controversial abolition of two bus services connecting rural parishes with towns.
Worcestershire County Council is proposing to discontinue the services which link Pendock, Berrow, Birtsmorton, Bushley, Longdon, Eldersfield and Corse Lawn with Tewkesbury and Ledbury.
Councillor Tom Wells is holding the meeting at Berrow Village Hall on this Tuesday, October 9, and he wants as many people as possible to attend.
He said: “I'm determined as the local county councillor to work with the parish councils and local people to come up with a satisfactory solution to this problem.
“The services under threat link these rural parishes with Ledbury on Tuesdays and with Tewkesbury on Wednesdays, and for many local people they are a vital lifeline, allowing them to go to the shops, visit the doctor and so on.
“Even local residents who don't need these services now should be concerned, because some day they might need them.”
The meeting is at 7pm.
Representatives from the county council will be there.
