WELL, it wasn’t quite the feeding of the 5,000 but we did have 50 or more tucking in and it was so lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves on Friday, September 7.

By popular request we had another evening of food and entertainment. All enjoyed consuming three varieties of delicious sausages provided by Barnard’s Green butchers and two varieties of mash provided by our very own Brian Willis, not to mention the home-made gravy.

There was also a vegetarian option ensuring everyone was catered for.

There was such a nice atmosphere when everyone came together for fellowship and food and the piece de resistance being the delicious variety of cakes.

Thank you again Brian.

Canon Harold Goddard was our raconteur and Harold regaled us with anecdotes of his many roles in the service of the Church, always having an amusing story attached.

Thank you so much Harold.

We want an encore as I am sure there is a lot more to tell. Thank you to all who came and all who helped and I am sure we will do another one next year.

For some time now we have been supporting the food bank run by the Lyttelton Well, and collecting tinned and dry food, as well as toiletries.

The need is ongoing, and so we are going to make a special effort for our Harvest Festival on October 7 at 11am.

All the recipients are referred by Social Services or Citizen’s Advice or other similar bodies, and this helps to assure that the goods go to people who genuinely need them. So please can you bring a tin or two when you come to church, and give as much as you can to make a good display for Harvest and thus contribute to the food bank.

Also later that day, Songs of Praise with Canon Harold Goddard, back by popular demand at 6pm. Do come along and sing favourite Harvest hymns and others.

Also please note in your diary that our Christmas Fair will be on Saturday, November 17, from 10am to 1pm when we will have delicious bacon, egg and sausage sandwiches again and a huge array of stalls.
