A KIND-hearted 11-year-old from Upton-upon-Severn is strapping on her trainers to show her support for a volunteer water rescue organisation.
When Hanley Castle High School pupil Calais Butcher heard that Mercia Inshore Search and Rescue (MISAR) was short of funds, she decided she could do something to help.
She decided to organise her own five-mile sponsored run, starting outside her father’s shop, The Little Gift Box, at The Cross, and finishing at Malvern’s Three Counties Showground.
She will be doing the run at noon on Sunday, meaning the showground’s popular Malvern Autumn Show will be in full swing when she arrives.
Rosemary Webb, a MISAR supporter, said: “When Calais approached us about this I just thought it was such a super thing for an 11- year-old to want to do.
“She has been training every day to get fit for the run and has already collected more than £200.
“She hopes more people will sponsor her and will give generously on the day.”
Anyone who would like to support Calais can find sponsor forms in The Little Gift Box and Sean’s News, in High Street, or call 01684 594552.
