WEST Mercia Police officers have been paying their respects to the memories of two colleagues from another force shot dead in the line of duty in Manchester.

The force which polices the Malvern area lowered its force flag at its headquarters in Hindlip, near Worcester, to half mast on Tuesday and Wednesday last week, September 18 and 19.

It was Tuesday when news broke of the two female police officers, PC Nicola Hughes, 23, and PC Fiona Bone, 32, gunned down in Greater Manchester as they attended what appeared to be a routine call-out to a suspected burglary.

West Mercia held a service of prayer and reflection at Hindlip church at 11am on the Wednesday.
