YOUNG people who have been inspired by the success of X Factor’s Cher Lloyd are being given the opportunity to become Worcestershire’s Pop Icon 2012.
The search is now on for young vocalists or vocalist groups of no more than four to sign up for auditions taking place at venues across the county in October.
The Pop Icons competition is open to Worcestershire residents, aged between 12 and 18, who have the potential and ability on stage to impress the judges.
Those who impress the judging panel will be whisked off to one of the boot camps where they will be put through their paces by a group of industry experts.
Practical advice and support will be available along the way and those who are successful will take part in the grand final on Friday, November 2, at the Artrix in Bromsgrove.
Steve Wilson, county arts officer for Worcestershire County Council, said: “Practise, perform and have fun.
“If you fancy being crowned the best singer in the county and you are confident and ready for some tough competition, then we would love to hear from you.”
Auditions will take place at the Artrix, Bromsgrove on Saturday, October 6, The Hive in Worcester on Sunday, October 7, the Rose Theatre, Kidderminster on Saturday, October 13, Malvern Theatres, Malvern on Sunday, October 14, and Number 8 Community Theatre in Pershore on Saturday, October 20.
